Its official...Riley Jiner is now OURS!!

Today's appointments made it official!! Riley Jiner Handy is now ours forever!!  So why can't we leave China???!!!  We have to wait for her passport and visa.  This is still a process!!  Riley is doing well.  She slept all night!!  We found her sucking her pointer finger when Shawn and I woke up this morning.  Her finger is her comfort!  There appears to be a little change in her spots/bumps.  The front spot looks larger.  :( She is not running a fever though so I am thinking she is still doing ok.   I tried to get some pictures of several of them.  She is still adjusting and just like any 18 month old who can't speak...let alone her parents and sister speaking a completely different language to her...we are trying to figure out what she wants!!  At times, it is trying but we are making it!!  I am thinking OT will be in our future.  He legs appear to bend in an outwards direction when she tries to walk rather than forward.  Hope that make sense!  She tires easily when attempting to walk! When we get to Guangzhou one of the ladies that is traveling in our group is an OT.  I am going to be talking with her about Riley,

Today our first stop was to take our picture for the adoption.  Lets just say she did not like this at all!!  She screamed so our first professional picture is just lovely.  Check it out!!!

Then we were interviewed on why we were adopting and our educational plans for Miss Riley!!  After that we drove to another building where we had to take an Oath.  We received our Certificate of Conformity of Intercountry Adoption.  We will have to take this to present to the US Consulate in Guangzhou.

It is beautiful today in Shanghai so after all our meetings we loaded Riley up in the stroller and hit the streets.  We found a store called--Shanghai No. 1 Department store.  We found Riley some cute shoes that actually fit and purchased several Chinese-English Children's books.  So far it has been a great day.  Its 3 in the afternoon and time for a little rest!!  We are going to attempt her first bath!!  Wish of Luck!!

  1. Congratulations! Riley is adorable and looks so happy with her new, loving family. We have enjoyed seeing all the pictures of Riley. She looks really small next to Rheagan. :) We hope you enjoy your time together before coming back to the states. Can't wait to see Rheagan and meet Riley!!

  2. I am so excited for the whole family!!!! I cant wait to meet her and welcome her into the family!!! I go to work tonight so I will see if the docs on tonight have any thoughts about the spots. If u can send me an email describing them more fully...hard, soft, warm to touch, do all of them have an open sore by the bump, this info will be helpful. Love you all!!
